Guy Grubbs

Thesis Title: Magnetosphere-Ionosphere Coupling During Active Aurora

Thesis Advisor: Marilia Samara and Jörg-Micha Jahn

Current Position and Research Areas: Guy is currently a postdoctoral researcher with Catholic University of America and Goddard Space Flight Center working on ionospheric studies. He is involved in multiple sounding rocket missions studying the ionospheric response to precipitating electrons, including ISINGLASS (Ionospheric Structuring: In Situ and Groundbased Low Altitude Studies). Guy also models electron transport through the ionosphere which results in the observable aurora. The goal of this research is to understand acceleration mechanisms occuring inside the magnetotail and at the magnetic reconnection site.
